Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (10.75 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can (4 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups cooked egg noodles

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a large skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until beef is browned and onion is tender. Drain off excess fat.
  • Stir in tomatoes, cream of mushroom soup, mushrooms, peas, 1/2 cup of the cheese, milk, sour cream, salt, and pepper. Cook and stir until cheese is melted and mixture is heated through.
  • In a 2-quart casserole dish, layer half of the cooked noodles and half of the beef mixture. Repeat layers.
  • Bake, uncovered, for 25 to 30 minutes or until heated through. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup cheese and bake for 5 minutes more or until cheese is melted.
  • Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
