Ingredients
- 1 lb beef, cut into small cubes
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 cups water
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro leaves
Instructions
- Wash the rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
- Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the onion, garlic, and ginger, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides.
- Add the tomatoes, yogurt, and spices, and stir well.
- Add the water and bring to a boil.
- Drain the rice and add it to the pot.
- Stir well and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the liquid has been absorbed.
- Garnish with cilantro leaves and serve hot.
