Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef, cut into small pieces
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chilies. Saute until the onions are golden brown.
  • Add the beef pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  • Add the cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well to coat the beef with the spices.
  • Add the mashed bananas and cook for a few minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Add the basmati rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.
  • Cook for about 20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the beef is tender.
  • Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
