Ingredients
- 1 block of extra firm tofu, drained and pressed
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 4 pita bread or wraps
- Tahini sauce, for serving
- Pickles, for serving
- Tomatoes, for serving
- Lettuce, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and olive oil.
- Cut the tofu into thin strips and coat with the marinade. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Place the marinated tofu on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until crispy.
- In a pan, sauté the onion and bell pepper until soft.
- Warm the pita bread or wraps in the oven.
- Assemble the shawarma wraps with tofu, sautéed vegetables, tahini sauce, pickles, tomatoes, and lettuce.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
