Ingredients

  • 1 block of extra firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 4 pita bread or wraps
  • Tahini sauce, for serving
  • Pickles, for serving
  • Tomatoes, for serving
  • Lettuce, for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  • In a bowl, mix soy sauce, garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and olive oil.
  • Cut the tofu into thin strips and coat with the marinade. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
  • Place the marinated tofu on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until crispy.
  • In a pan, sauté the onion and bell pepper until soft.
  • Warm the pita bread or wraps in the oven.
  • Assemble the shawarma wraps with tofu, sautéed vegetables, tahini sauce, pickles, tomatoes, and lettuce.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!
