Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu
- 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1/4 cup of vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup of soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon of sriracha
- 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon of minced ginger
- 1/4 cup of chopped scallions
Instructions
- Press the tofu to remove excess water, then cut it into bite-sized pieces.
- In a bowl, mix together the cornstarch, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Coat the tofu pieces in the cornstarch mixture.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the tofu to the skillet and cook until crispy and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes per side.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sriracha, minced garlic, and minced ginger.
- Pour the sauce over the tofu and stir to coat.
- Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the sauce has thickened and the tofu is fully coated.
- Garnish with chopped scallions and serve hot.
