Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1/4 cup of vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon of sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of minced ginger
  • 1/4 cup of chopped scallions

Instructions

  • Press the tofu to remove excess water, then cut it into bite-sized pieces.
  • In a bowl, mix together the cornstarch, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Coat the tofu pieces in the cornstarch mixture.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the tofu to the skillet and cook until crispy and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes per side.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sriracha, minced garlic, and minced ginger.
  • Pour the sauce over the tofu and stir to coat.
  • Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the sauce has thickened and the tofu is fully coated.
  • Garnish with chopped scallions and serve hot.
