About this recipe

Delight in these crispy, golden samosas filled with a harmonious blend of spiced potatoes and peas. Perfect for a party appetizer or snack, these samosas will impress with their surprise burst of flavors.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup boiled and lightly mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 cup boiled green peas
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying

Directions

  1. 1

Mix flour and salt in a bowl. Add oil and rub into flour to resemble breadcrumbs.

  2. 2

Gradually add water, kneading into a smooth dough. Cover and rest for 20 minutes.

  3. 3

Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and sauté until they splutter.

  4. 4

Add ginger and garlic, cook for 1 minute. Stir in onions, cooking until translucent.

  5. 5

Mix in potatoes, peas, coriander, turmeric, chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Cook for 3 minutes.

  6. 6

Cool the filling. Divide dough into balls, rolling each into a thin circle.

  7. 7

Cut circles in half, form cones, fill with mixture, and seal edges with water.

  8. 8

Fry samosas in medium-hot oil until golden and crisp. Drain on paper towels.

Chef's tip

Ensure the oil is at optimal temperature before frying to avoid soggy samosas. Filling can be prepared ahead of time.
