Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup boiled and mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 cup boiled and mashed green peas
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Add the vegetable oil and mix well.
  • Gradually add water and knead the dough until it becomes smooth. Cover the dough and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  • In a pan, heat some oil and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the grated ginger and minced garlic. Saute for a minute.
  • Add the finely chopped onions and cook until they turn translucent.
  • Add the mashed potatoes, mashed green peas, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove the mixture from heat and let it cool.
  • Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin circle.
  • Cut each circle in half and form a cone shape by sealing the straight edge with water.
  • Fill each cone with the potato and pea mixture and seal the open edge with water.
  • Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the samosas until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  • Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
