Ingredients
- 250g plain flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
- 1/4 tsp ground coriander
- 1/4 tsp ground fennel seeds
- 1/4 tsp ground anise seeds
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 100g unsalted butter, softened
- 100g granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, cardamom, coriander, fennel seeds, anise seeds, black pepper, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Using the back of a fork, gently press down on each ball to flatten it slightly and create a crisscross pattern.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
- Allow the biscuits to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Serve and enjoy!
