  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 carrot (julienned)
  • 1 cucumber (julienned)
  • 4 sheets of seaweed (gim/nori)
  • 4 cups cooked short-grain rice
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. 1

Mix soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, garlic, ginger, and black pepper in a bowl.

  2. 2

Marinate the beef with the mixture for at least 30 minutes.

  3. 3

Cook marinated beef in a medium-high skillet until browned, about 3-4 minutes.

  4. 4

Lay a seaweed sheet on a bamboo mat, spread a thin layer of rice, leaving 1 inch at the top.

  5. 5

Sprinkle sesame seeds over the rice and arrange beef, carrot, and cucumber in the center.

  6. 6

Roll tightly using the bamboo mat, slightly wetting the edge to seal.

  7. 7

Slice the roll into bite-sized pieces with a sharp knife.

  8. 8

Serve fresh, enjoying the fusion of flavors.

Chef's tip

Ensure not to overfill the rolls to allow them to seal properly and maintain their shape.
