Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the onion, garlic, thyme, paprika, allspice, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, until the onions are softened.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and butter. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Add the cold water to the flour mixture and mix until a dough forms. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a ball.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out each dough ball into a circle about 6 inches in diameter.
  • Place a spoonful of the ground beef mixture onto one half of each dough circle. Fold the other half of the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges together to seal.
  • Brush the tops of the patties with beaten egg.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the patties are golden brown.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!
