Russian Vanilla Delight Ice Cream

About this recipe

Inspired by traditional Russian flavors, this vanilla ice cream recipe offers a creamy and indulgent dessert that melts in your mouth. Enhanced with vodka for a smooth texture and Kahlua for a hint of coffee, it's perfect for any special occasion or a treat-yourself moment.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 vanilla bean, split and scraped
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup vodka
  • 1/4 cup Kahlua

Directions

  1. 1

Combine the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, and vanilla bean in a medium saucepan over medium heat until it simmers.

  2. 2

In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks, and slowly add 1 cup of the hot cream mixture, whisking constantly.

  3. 3

Return the egg mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.

  4. 4

Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a large bowl.

  5. 5

Stir in the vodka and Kahlua, then cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.

  6. 6

Churn in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  7. 7

Transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 2 hours until firm.

  8. 8

Serve and enjoy the delightful flavors!

Chef's tip

For a kid-friendly version, omit the vodka and Kahlua. Adjust sugar to taste.
