Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup honey
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture in three parts, alternating with the milk and honey. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove them from the pans and let them cool completely on wire racks.
- To make the frosting, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Fold in the honey.
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting over the top. Place the second cake layer on top and spread the remaining frosting over the top and sides of the cake.
