Ingredients

  • 1 cup semolina
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup ghee
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1 teaspoon rose water
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (such as almonds or pistachios)
  • 1 cup honey

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the semolina, sugar, ghee, milk, cardamom powder, and rose water. Mix well until all the ingredients are fully incorporated.
  • Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add the semolina mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, for about 10-15 minutes or until the mixture thickens and starts to come away from the sides of the pan.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Then, transfer it to a greased baking dish and spread it evenly.
  • Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top of the semolina mixture, pressing them gently into the surface.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  • While the dessert is baking, heat the honey in a small saucepan over low heat until it becomes thin and runny.
  • Once the dessert is done baking, remove it from the oven and pour the warm honey over the top, allowing it to soak into the semolina mixture.
  • Let the dessert cool completely before cutting it into squares or diamond shapes.
  • Serve the gourmet Yemeni dessert at room temperature and enjoy!
