Ingredients
- 1 cup semolina
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup ghee
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 1 teaspoon rose water
- 1 cup chopped nuts (such as almonds or pistachios)
- 1 cup honey
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the semolina, sugar, ghee, milk, cardamom powder, and rose water. Mix well until all the ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add the semolina mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, for about 10-15 minutes or until the mixture thickens and starts to come away from the sides of the pan.
- Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Then, transfer it to a greased baking dish and spread it evenly.
- Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top of the semolina mixture, pressing them gently into the surface.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
- While the dessert is baking, heat the honey in a small saucepan over low heat until it becomes thin and runny.
- Once the dessert is done baking, remove it from the oven and pour the warm honey over the top, allowing it to soak into the semolina mixture.
- Let the dessert cool completely before cutting it into squares or diamond shapes.
- Serve the gourmet Yemeni dessert at room temperature and enjoy!
