Ingredients
- 4 chicken drumsticks
- 4 chicken thighs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup hot sauce
- 1 small watermelon, sliced
- 1 packet of Kool Aid mix
- 4 cups water
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and hot sauce.
- Dip each piece of chicken into the buttermilk mixture, then coat it in the flour mixture. Make sure to press the flour mixture onto the chicken to ensure a crispy coating.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place the chicken pieces into the hot oil and fry for about 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Make sure to turn the chicken pieces occasionally for even cooking.
- Remove the fried chicken from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- In a large pitcher, combine the Kool Aid mix with water and stir until well dissolved. Add ice cubes to the pitcher.
- Serve the fried chicken with slices of watermelon and a glass of refreshing Kool Aid. Enjoy!
