Ingredients

  • 4 figs
  • 1 orange
  • 200g haloumi cheese
  • Handful of fresh basil leaves
  • For the walnut dukkah:
  • 50g walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon coriander seeds
  • 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon fennel seeds
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • 2. Cut the figs into quarters and set aside.
  • 3. Peel the orange and separate into segments.
  • 4. Cut the haloumi cheese into slices.
  • 5. In a dry frying pan, toast the walnuts, sesame seeds, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, and fennel seeds until fragrant. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • 6. In a mortar and pestle or a food processor, crush the toasted nuts and seeds until coarsely ground. Add the paprika and salt, and mix well.
  • 7. Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Cook the haloumi slices for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • 8. Arrange the figs, orange segments, and haloumi slices on a serving platter. Sprinkle with fresh basil leaves.
  • 9. Drizzle the salad with olive oil and sprinkle with the walnut dukkah.
