Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Stir in the paprika, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper.
- Cook for 1 minute to toast the spices.
- Add the beef broth, tomato paste, soy sauce, honey, and lemon juice.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat and let the sauce cool slightly.
- Transfer the sauce to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
- Serve the Ethiopian steak sauce with your favorite steak dishes.
