Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Stir in the paprika, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper.
  • Cook for 1 minute to toast the spices.
  • Add the beef broth, tomato paste, soy sauce, honey, and lemon juice.
  • Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Remove from heat and let the sauce cool slightly.
  • Transfer the sauce to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
