  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until well blended.
  • Whisk in the milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture boils.
  • Boil gently for 1 minute, then remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  • Add the mascarpone cheese to the cooled custard mixture and mix until smooth.
  • Fold in the whipped cream until well combined.
  • Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee and arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9x9-inch dish.
  • Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  • Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  • Sift cocoa powder over the top of the tiramisu.
