- 6 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 8 ounces mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 24 ladyfingers
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until well blended.
- Whisk in the milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture boils.
- Boil gently for 1 minute, then remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Add the mascarpone cheese to the cooled custard mixture and mix until smooth.
- Fold in the whipped cream until well combined.
- Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee and arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9x9-inch dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- Sift cocoa powder over the top of the tiramisu.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
