Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whipped cream
- Chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x9-inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the boiling water to the batter, mixing well after each addition.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the chocolate ganache by heating the heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring it to a simmer, then remove from heat.
- Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract to the hot cream, stirring until smooth and well combined.
- Once the cake is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes in the pan.
- Carefully transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once the cake has cooled, spread the chocolate ganache evenly over the top.
- Top with whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings.
- Serve and enjoy!
