Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Your favorite jam or Nutella for filling
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
- Add the warm milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into small portions. Roll each portion into a ball.
- Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover with a kitchen towel, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully drop the bombolini into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on all sides. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Once the bombolini are cool enough to handle, fill a piping bag fitted with a small round tip with your favorite jam or Nutella.
- Insert the tip into each bombolini and gently squeeze to fill with the desired amount of filling.
- Dust the bombolini with powdered sugar before serving.
