Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water over medium heat. Stir until the sugar has dissolved.
  • Continue to cook the sugar mixture, without stirring, until it turns a deep amber color.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and carefully whisk in the cream. Be cautious as the mixture will bubble up.
  • Return the saucepan to low heat and stir in the milk and salt. Cook until the mixture is heated through.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let the mixture cool completely.
  • Once cooled, transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • During the last few minutes of churning, drizzle in the caramel sauce to create swirls.
  • Transfer the ice cream to a lidded container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
  • Serve the caramel ace cream in bowls or cones and enjoy!
