Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Peel the potatoes and cut them into long, thin strips.
  • Place the potato strips in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for about 30 minutes. This will help remove excess starch and make the frites crispier.
  • Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to about 350°F (175°C).
  • Carefully add the potato strips to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the fryer or pot. Fry them in batches if necessary.
  • Fry the potatoes for about 5-7 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
