Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1-2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, granulated sugar, salt, and yeast.
- In a small saucepan, heat milk, butter, and water until warm (120-130°F).
- Add the milk mixture and egg to the dry ingredients. Beat on low speed for 30 seconds, then increase to high speed and beat for 3 minutes.
- Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and turn it onto a lightly floured surface. Roll it into a 12x9-inch rectangle.
- In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon. Brush the melted butter over the dough, then sprinkle with the brown sugar mixture.
- Roll up the dough tightly, starting from the long side. Pinch the seams to seal.
- Cut the roll into 12 slices and place them in a greased 9x13-inch baking pan. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls.
