About this recipe

Experience a delightful twist on the classic BLT with our BLT Schnitzel Baguette. This dish features golden, crispy chicken schnitzel, smoky bacon, fresh lettuce, and ripe tomatoes, all layered with creamy mayonnaise on a warm, crusty baguette. Perfect for lunch or a casual dinner, this sandwich brings together the best of textures and flavors for a satisfying bite.

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 4 baguettes
  • 8 slices of bacon
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).

  2. 2

Slice each chicken breast in half horizontally to make thin cutlets.

  3. 3

Set up a breading station: Place flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs in separate shallow dishes.

  4. 4

Dredge chicken in flour, dip in egg, then coat with breadcrumbs. Season with salt and pepper.

  5. 5

Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry each schnitzel until golden brown on both sides, about 4-5 minutes.

  6. 6

Cook bacon in a separate pan until crispy; drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

Slice baguettes lengthwise and spread mayonnaise on the bottom half.

  8. 8

Layer lettuce, schnitzel, bacon, and tomato slices on the baguette.

  9. 9

Press the top half of the baguette gently and bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes until heated through and crispy.

  10. 10

    Slice and serve warm.

Chef's tip

For added flavor, consider spreading a bit of Dijon mustard or aioli on the baguette. This sandwich is perfect for picnics or casual meals.
