Ingredients

  • 2 cups aged basmati rice
  • 1 pound chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 cup chopped mint leaves
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • 4 cups water
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking
  • 1 pinch saffron strands soaked in 2 tablespoons warm milk (optional)
